Parishioner Vonda Morgan Passes Away

Vonda C. Stiller Morgan, 86, passed away Thursday, Nov. 16 at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN. The youngest of 11 children, she was born at home on January 25, 1937, to the late William and Elnora Stiller during the crest of the Ohio River Flood of 1937.

Vonda attended St. Mary of the Knobs Catholic School and was a member of the first graduating class of Providence High School in 1955. She worked at First Federal Savings & Loan, Niemeyer Men’s Clothing Store, and Nance’s Florist before retiring from Endris Jewelers in 2003. She enjoyed many hours working in her flower garden and babysitting each of her eight grandchildren. She was an active volunteer for the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and In Heaven’s Eyes.

 

She was preceded in death by Charles Morgan, her sister Rosemary Balmer (Edward), and brothers, Odell Stiller (Susie), Howard Stiller (Neva), Jack Stiller (Mary), Marcel Stiller, Nolan Stiller (Millie), Gene Stiller (Mary), Chester Stiller (Betty), Clarence Stiller (Ann), and Ken Stiller (Marilyn).

Survivors include her children, Marilyn Nash (Gary) of Sellersburg, Paul Morgan (Michelle O’Brien) of Louisville, and Leslie M. Knable (Dan) of Floyds Knobs; grandchildren Morgan Nash, Macauley Nash, Matthew Morgan, Jackson Morgan, Sam Morgan, Leanna Morgan, Isabella Knable, and Louis Knable; and a gazillion nieces and nephews.

May her soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
