Outreach Ministries

Homebound Ministry

An opportunity to form a relationship with a parishioner who is unable to regularly attend Mass or social events. Along with praying regularly for the parishioner we connect you with, you may visit, send cards, or talk on the phone. This relationship reminds him or her of the Church’s presence and care, and reminds you that elderly have much to offer to those who take the time to visit and comfort them.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

Educate and instruct some of the youngest members of our parish! Dive into the Sunday readings with child-friendly language, group discussions, and hands-on materials. 

  • Time commitment: Once every 2 months during the 10:30 Sunday Mass
  • Training required
  • SafeParish required

 

Service Ministries

Boiled Eggs for In Heaven's Eyes

Provide 3 dozen boiled eggs every other week for our Wednesday homeless ministry. 

  • 1 opening
  • Time commitment: 2 times per month

 

Cook for In Heaven's Eyes

Once a month prepare and drop off a crockpot of soup, casserole, or macaroni and cheese type meals for our Wednesday homeless ministry. We provide the crockpot and the liner.

  • Time commitment: 1 time per month
 
Deliver furniture for St. Vincent de Paul

Assist in picking up and delivering donated furniture as needed and your availability allows. Must be able to carry loads up staircases.

  • Time commitment: As needed

 

Transfer food for St. Vincent de Paul

Transfer donated food from In Heaven's Eyes to the SVDP food pantry. One person is needed for each day of the week.

  • Time commitment: 30 minutes, once per week

 

Provide Supplies for Youth Ministry

Drop off requested items (i.e. canned drinks, bags of chips) when the youth space is running low. Our youth minister, Abbi Hamm, will contact you with a request and you can bring the items by when it is convenient for you! Youth events are held multiple times a week and they love having drinks and snacks.

  • Time commitment: Once every six weeks (or so)

 

Volunteer at Middle School Monthly Events

Be an adult chaperone at monthly youth ministry events that take place on parish grounds. The three-hour events include prayer, dinner, service work, and social activities.

  • 6 openings: December 10, January 21, February 11, March 11, April 22, May 20
  • Time commitment: 3 hours (6-9 p.m. on a Friday night)
  • SafeParish required

 

Painting Projects

Several painting projects are available in a variety of sizes. Supplies will be provided. Open to adults working alone or together, or groups with kids needing service hours.

  • Time commitment: one time for several hours

Prayer Ministries

Prayer Partners for RCIA Candidates

Pray for your assigned RCIA candidate on a regular basis (i.e., a weekly rosary, offering Mass, offering sacrifices, through the intercession of their patron saint, etc.). There may be some interaction with the person, such as sending a card or attending Mass together, as they are comfortable. Being a prayer partner is a hands-off, flexible opportunity with the potential to bear much fruit.

Holy Hour of Adoration on First or Third Wednesday

Sign up for an hour of prayer on the first or third Wednesday of each month. Times especially needed are 2 and 4pm, but other hours are open as well.

  • Time commitment: 1 hour

 

Daily Prayer & Scripture Reading

By faithfully living your spiritual life, the parish community will become holier. “Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it.” (2 Cor 12:27) Consider listening to the Bible in a Year with Fr. Mike Schmitz, the daily Mass readings, or prayer journaling.

  • Unlimited openings
  • Time commitment: 20 minutes per day

 

Liturgical MinistriesUshers & Ministers of Hospitality

Be the welcoming presence to, literally and figuratively, open the doors to those who attend our weekend Masses. Also assist in handing out materials and taking up the Sunday offerings.

  • Openings:
    • 2 for 5 p.m. Mass
    • 3 for 8 a.m.
    • 4 for 10:30 a.m.
    • 3 for 6 p.m.
  • Training available

 

Lectors

Proclaim the living Word of God to the congregation at Masses and other liturgical gatherings. Also reads the general intercession at Mass.

  • Openings:
    • 3 for 5 p.m. Mass
    • 2 for 8 a.m.
    • 5 for 10:30 a.m.
    • 3 for 6 p.m.
  • Training available

 

Cantors

Lead the congregation in song during weekend Masses. Often accompanied by musicians on piano and/or guitar.

  • Openings:
    • 1 for 5 p.m. Mass
    • 1 for 8 a.m.
    • 1 for 10:30 a.m.

 

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Assist the priest in the prayerful and effective distribution of Holy Communion during Mass.

  • Openings:
    • 3 for 6 p.m.
  • Training available

 

Livestream Team

Run the livestream on Facebook Live during the 8 a.m. Mass on Sundays.

  • Openings: 2
  • Time Commitment: 7:30-9:15 a.m. one Sunday a month
  • Training required
