Parishioner Joseph “Joe” Anthony Boesing Sr. Passes Away

Joseph "Joe" Anthony Boesing Sr., age 89, of New Albany, Indiana passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Joe was born in Starlight, Indiana on October 14, 1934 to the late William and Elizabeth (Book) Boesing the youngest son of 12 children. He was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Germany for 2 years in the mid 1950s. Joe worked for 31 years at Western Electric (Bell Systems) as an installer and then 20 years at the New Albany Floyd County Public Library in maintenance. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and volunteered at Providence High School in both the Saturday Night Bingo for 40 years and was a member of the informal Providence High School "Monday Night Crew" which provided maintenance services.

Joe's priority was his family, and he spent countless hours with his grandchildren. He was also a tireless worker who would lend a hand to anybody who needed help, from something as small as running to the store to buy screws, or as big as rewiring a house. He is perhaps most remembered for his practical jokes, and his dry, biting sense of humor that was subtly on display for everybody, from life-long friends to total strangers.

Joe is survived by his wife of 67 years, Patricia "Pat" Stone Boesing; son, Joseph "Joe" Boesing Jr. (Donna), Danny Boesing (Terry), John Boesing (Suzette); siblings, Colette Zumstein, Margaret Stublefield, Marty Renn; grandchildren, Joseph, III (Tiffany), Benjamin (Vari), Olivia Curry (Connor), Sarah Kelsey (Daniel), Krista Lawson (Jonathan), Rachel, Micah, Daniel, Nick, Natalie; great grandchildren, Beckham Boesing, Tatum Boesing, Reese Curry, Sadie Curry, and a baby girl coming in July.
