Parishioner John “Jack” Mooney Passes Away

John Richard “Jack” Mooney “went to see Jesus!” as his great-grandson said, on July 21, 2023, at the age of 96. He died peacefully in his home, surrounded by his devoted family and the prayers of hundreds of loved ones. Jack was born in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Marietta and Al Mooney. He is survived by his beloved wife Marie “Hap” Mooney, his sister Mary (John) Kracha, his children Laura (Mike) Meyer, Larry (Jan) Mooney, Jane (Terry) Wease, Mary Ellen (Paul) Routin and Nancy Mooney, wife of his late son, Tim Mooney, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many cherished nieces and nephews.

He was proud of his career as a master printer for 27 years with Schumann Printing and 23 years with V.G. Reed & Sons Printing. After his infant son received a life-saving transfusion, Jack became a faithful blood donor, giving over 28 gallons in his lifetime as well as becoming a disaster response volunteer for the American Red Cross after his retirement. After going on an Honor Flight in 2018, he became the first Honor Flight Bluegrass Ambassador and, since the age of 93, has served as the oldest scoutmaster in Indiana for BSA Troop 25 in Georgetown, IN.

Jack is happily reunited with his late infant sons, John and Richard, as well as all the loving family members who have passed before him.
