33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time

I just spent the last few days with more than 20000f teens and their chaperones. If anyone says the Church is only full of ‘old people’, they clearly missed what happened the last few days in Indianapolis at the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC). It rocked! It was a great boost for my own personal Faith Life, as I’m sure it was for all those from our Holy Family family that attended. The talks, the Masses, the Adoration, the confessions, the displays, the time together talking with other people – especially other young people -  growing in our Faith in Jesus Christ and our shared Catholic Church was incredible.

But maybe you are thinking, I’m no longer a teen, nor am I likely to chaperone such an experience. How can I have such an encounter? One way would be to attend the National Eucharistic Congress next summer. It is directed toward the whole of the spectrum of ages and people in the US Catholic Church. It will certainly have a similar NCYC feel. Incredible Masses, time for Adoration & Confessions, great nationally acclaimed speakers, encounters with Catholics from across the country, devotions, learning break-outs, prayer, service opportunities. You name it, if it helps draw one nearer to the Eucharistic Jesus Christ, you will very likely experience it at the National Eucharistic Congress.

Consider this your invitation to participate and attend the upcoming National Eucharistic Congress to held in nearby Indianapolis July 17-21, 2024. Without a doubt, the gathering will impact your Catholic Christian Faith in tremendous ways. There is amplifying effect when we gather in prayer and praise of Christ Truly Present in the Eucharist, the Mass, the Sacraments, the Scriptures, when we come together to be Church. This will be powerfully realized as more than 80,000 pilgrims come together to attend this encouraging, catechetical & faith enlivening experience. This will be an NCYC experience for the rest of us.                                                   www.EucharisticCongress.org

If you and members of your family would like to attend, Holy Family would like to help sponsor you.

Rise up with Joy! This year, I’m challenging Holy Family Parish to once again build a new home for a family in need. We have successfully accomplished a new home each of the last 3 Advents through your participation and contributions toward Cross Catholic Outreach – Guatemala Home Project. As we rejoice in the Promised Gift of our Savior born in Bethlehem, we can rejoice that we are helping a family in need to have more than ‘a room at the inn’ but a new sturdy and safe home. Joy doesn’t depend upon what we possess, but in the treasures we have stored up in heaven. So many of our brothers and sisters find themselves living in less than ‘substandard housing’ but flat-out flimsy shacks, facing a daily battle against hunger, and combating health issues from unhygienic hovels. You can help! Last year, Holy Family families met our goal to build a home. This year our goal is $10938 to provide a struggling Guatemalan family with a solid and safe concrete-block home. You’ve felt inflation, so has the world – with the poorest of the poor feeling it the most. Please join me in making this happen. Donations can be dropped off in the offering at Mass by putting “Guatemala Home” in the check memo line or by contributing to the appeal on Faith Direct (the Holy Family e-giving site).
