You may be wondering: “What has Holy Family Youth Ministry been up to this summer?” Well, allow me to share with you all of the awesome things we have been up to so far this summer!
Each Tuesday in June, our Middle School students participated in a deanery- wide service program called Summer Daze. This program allows our young people to have the experience of serving others in our local community. After a morning of service, each afternoon consisted of a social event where we gathered with the rest of the parishes in our area to have a little fun! Our Summer Daze theme this year was “Womb to Tomb.” We focused on the dignity of the human person from conception to natural death. Our service sites included St. Elizabeth’s Home, Blue River Services, the Franciscan Kitchen, and Azalea Hills. What a joy it was to watch our young people serve others as Christ did.
Our high school students have also been busy at work! In June, we began a new program here at Holy Family called “Service Saturday”, so that our high school youth could spend some time in service to the community once a month! We have served at the Franciscan Kitchen and Little Way Pregnancy Help Center. It is such a gift to spend a Saturday morning beside our young people as they answer the call to discipleship.
We started July off right with our annual Holiday World Trip! Seventeen students joined us for a day of roller coasters and water park fun.
Holy Family Youth Ministry also hosts Small Groups each week for both middle and high school students! On Monday evenings, our Middle School students have been listening and learning from Fr. Mike Schmitz in one of his hot topic studies, while our high school students are studying the Catechism. Small Group has been such an awesome opportunity for students to stop outside of all the hustle and bustle of life and take an hour each week to reflect on how the Lord is working in their hearts.
We are always planning for more and more fun stuff in Holy Family Youth Minister! Keep an eye out next month for our NCYC Fundrasier: Pancake Breakfast!
Pray for us as we pray for you.
