Very Rev. Jeremy Gries
Pastor
Fr. Jeremy Gries has been serving as the Pastor of Holy Family Catholic Church since 2018, bringing a deep love for the faith and a strong commitment to building the Kingdom of God within our parish community.
Fr. Jeremy grew up on the southeast side of Indianapolis in Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ Parish, where his parents, Bob and Kathy, are still active members. He is one of five siblings, all of whom attended Nativity Catholic Grade School and Roncalli Catholic High School. He went on to earn both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in civil engineering from Purdue University, specializing in structural engineering.
After discerning a call to the priesthood, Fr. Jeremy entered Saint Meinrad School of Theology, where he earned a Master of Arts and a Master of Divinity degree. His formation included parish placements at Holy Family, the Richmond Catholic Community, St. Pius X in Indianapolis, chaplaincy at Methodist Hospital, and a summer spiritual program at Creighton University’s Institute for Priestly Formation. He was ordained to the priesthood on June 6, 2009.
In addition to his pastoral responsibilities, Fr. Jeremy serves as the Dean of the New Albany Deanery, first appointed by Archbishop Thompson in 2021 and reappointed for another three-year term in July 2024. In this role, he helps coordinate collaboration among parishes and serves as a liaison between the archbishop and local priests. His previous experience includes serving as Dean of the Connersville Deanery from 2012 to 2018.
Fr. Jeremy considers it an honor and a joy to serve Holy Family Parish. He encourages active engagement from parishioners and looks forward to growing together in faith, service, and holiness. May our time together aid us all in becoming Saints for Christ and His Church!
