28th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Last week, I wrote of how creation itself in the fall gives a glimpse of God’s Glory. This is hardly a new insight. Every two weeks on Sunday, priests, religious, and some laity will pray the Canticle of Daniel during Morning Prayer (Daniel 3:57-88). It reminds us that just as all creation and creatures praise the Lord, may all God’s servants do the same. Even more amazing, is this canticle of praise was first sung by Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, Jewish administrators in King Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylonian government. When they refused to worship him as a false god, he cast them into a white hot furnace, from which God saved them. Fidelity to God united with Praising God, leads to God’s protection and exultation. Something worth praying over.

Bless the Lord, all you works of the Lord.

Praise and exalt Him above all forever.

Angels of the Lord, bless the Lord.

You heavens, bless the Lord,

All you waters above the heavens, bless the Lord.

All you hosts of the Lord, bless the Lord.

Sun and moon, bless the Lord.

Stars of heaven, bless the Lord.

Every shower and dew, bless the Lord.

All you winds, bless the Lord.

Fire and heat, bless the Lord.

Cold and chill, bless the Lord.

Dew and rain, bless the Lord.

Frost and chill, bless the Lord.

Ice and snow, bless the Lord.

Nights and days, bless the Lord.

Light and darkness, bless the Lord.

Lightnings and clouds, bless the Lord.

Let the earth bless the Lord.

Praise and exalt Him above all forever.

Mountains and hills, bless the Lord.

Everything growing from the earth, bless the Lord.

You springs, bless the Lord.

Seas and rivers, bless the Lord.

You dolphins and all water creatures, bless the Lord.

All you birds of the air, bless the Lord.

All you beasts, wild and tame, bless the Lord.

You sons of men, bless the Lord.

O Israel, bless the Lord.

Praise and exalt Him above all forever.

Priests of the Lord, bless the Lord.

Servants of the Lord, bless the Lord.

Spirits and souls of the just, bless the Lord.

Holy men of humble heart, bless the Lord.

Hananiah, Azariah, Mishael, bless the Lord.

Praise and exalt Him above all forever.

Walk with One – May your life reflect God’s Glory to help another Glorify God:

  1. Identify someone in a spirit of humility. Pray to God to discern who God wants you to accompany. This may not be the person you most want to impact, but it is the person God wants to impact through you!
  2. Intercede for that person in Communion with the Holy Spirit. Start with deep, sustained, ongoing prayers prayer for that one person. It is the Holy Spirit that will work in them through you.
  3. Interact with that person in Eucharistic Friendship. Before sharing the gift of the Gospel, share the gift of yourself, friendship, & communion. Human friendship is the training ground for divine friendship.
  4. Invite this person on a path suitable to them. As your natural friendship develops and you continue to pray humbly for them, you will know what is the next best way to invite them deeper supernaturally. Discern & accompany this one on the next suitable step for them closer to Christ & His Church. Patiently, prayerfully, partnering with the One God has called you to accompany, will be the pathway to enriching all of our lives, theirs & ours, with their presence united to the Eucharistic Presence of our Lord.
