Holy Family Catholic Parish in New Albany, IN is seeking a Director of Discipleship and Catechesis to assist the pastor in areas of pastoral ministry so that the baptized Faithful realize their call to holiness, community, mission, ministry, and to live it in Christian maturity. The ideal candidate should possess a strong faith, witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, blessed with a deep love of people through the Catholic Church. The applicant will be knowledgeable about Church teachings and committed to its mission, as well as build an authentic Christian Community. Both part-time and full-time candidates will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- RCIA Assistance and oversight
- Intentional Discipleship and catechesis of adult parishioners with special emphasis on Adult Women of the Parish
- Coordination of care to the Homebound and Nursing Care Facilities
- Coordination of mission engagement and volunteer opportunities
- Facilitate and support small Christian “Root” Groups
- Coordination of Children’s Faith Formation for non-school families
Qualifications:
- Active member of a Catholic parish faith community
- Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religious Education, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies or Education; or a Pastoral Ministries specific certificate; or equivalent is preferred with at least two years of experience as a catechist
- Organizational and leadership abilities especially with small groups
- Knowledge of Sacraments and Sacramental preparations and requirements
- Must have the ability to relate to a variety of persons
- Employment requires work during evenings and weekends
The next Director of Discipleship and Catechesis will be required to complete the Archdiocese of Indianapolis’ Safe Parish training and Code of Conduct, which includes a background check.
