From April through the end of June volunteers of the Saturday Lunch Ministry prepared and distributed more than 1,025 brown bag lunches to the needy at the New Albany Housing Authority parking lot off Bono Road in New Albany. The total lunches prepared for the year is over 2,100. The Wednesday Bridge Ministry teams, working with Jesus Cares at Exit Zero, prepared and served meals to over 345 men, 135 women, and 6 children over the last three months. The year-to-date total served is 616 men, 244 women and 14 children. Additionally, adult and children’s clothing, shoes, jackets, coats, plus bath and bedding, household and kitchen, toiletries, toys, and other donated items were distributed to those in need through IHE cooperating local service organizations.
Also, since the first of the year, ten small suitcases donated to IHE were delivered to residents of Open Door Youth Services, an organization established in 1982 that exists to respond to the needs and promote the healthy development of vulnerable children and youth through residential assistance, emergency shelter and various outreach programs.
Thanks also to our dedicated volunteers, and to the parishioners of Holy Family for their continued prayers and financial support through Faith Direct, the second Sunday collection and direct donations.
