Cemetery Spring Clean Up

The following message is from Teri Popp, Director of Catholic Cemeteries of New Albany:

Please make certain all decorative items are removed from the ground around monuments by March 15. After this time the cemetery will remove and discard. We cannot be responsible for storing items for you to claim later.

Please remember no items made of glass are allowed in the cemetery at any time. Only approved monuments and vases on stones are allowed on gravesites. Other items are not allowed because of maintenance issues. Planting flowers, trees, or shrubs on lots is not allowed and any plantings will be removed.

If you place a floral saddle on a monument, please put the name or phone number on the bottom.  We do our best to return them when wind blows them off, but do not know where they belong without this information.

No items should be placed in the ground around markers after March 15 due to mowing season. Easter flowers and decorations are allowed for 1 week prior and following only.  Removal will be on or after April 12.   Do not place shepherd hooks, wind chimes, decorations or solar lights in the trees or ground around markers.  They will be removed being a mowing hazard.

If you have any questions, contact our office via email at teri@stmarysna.org or phone at 812-944-0417 ext. 2106.

Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our cemeteries beautiful for all.

Cemetery Director
