Barbara A. Bratcher Passes Away

Please join us in praying for Barbara A. Bratcher. On the morning of Saturday, August 27, 2022, Barbara died peacefully of natural causes. Barbara was being visited and comforted by family and friends at Autumn Woods in New Albany, Indiana at the time of her death. Barbara was 88 years old.

Barbara was born October 15, 1933, in Louisville, Kentucky to William Horace and Mary Elizabeth (Fleming) Lanham. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Janis Lanham Niehaus, and brother, Frank Lanham.

Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and wonderful friend. She worked and retired from Brown and Williamson Tobacco Company in 1989. During her years in retirement, she volunteered at the Center for Lay Ministries Food Pantry in Jeffersonville, IN, and the Kentucky Center for the Arts. In her free time, Barbara enjoyed camping, family vacations, and her flower garden. She maintained her mother’s tradition of baking coconut cream and lemon meringue pies for Easter, carrot cake for Thanksgiving, and springerle cookies for Christmas. Barbara had a competitive spirit and enjoyed playing games with her family.

Barbara is survived by her children, William Faulkner (Barbara), Deborah Martel (Mike), Diane Mattingly, Connie Roudenbush (Terry), Joseph Faulkner (Beth), Sheryl Casteel (Robert), 15 beautiful grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
