Our Pastor

Father Dan Atkins took up the pastorate of Holy Family on July 7, 2010. He is a native of southern Indiana. His mother and father were the late Margaret and Carl “Ish” Atkins. Born in New Albany on April 10, 1948, Fr. Dan spent his boyhood in St. Mary of the Knobs Parish; he is an proud alumnus and a former faculty member of Our Lady of Providence High School. Fr. Dan was ordained on June 6, 1987 and his assignments include St. Jude, Indianapolis, Roncalli High School, St. Paul Catholic Center at Indiana University, and the tri-parish community of St. Joseph, Most Precious Blood, and St. Peter in Harrison County. In 2008 Fr. Dan participated in the archdiocesan priest exchange program with Guadalajara, Mexico and enjoys helping with Hispanic ministry in our New Albany deanery.
“It is a great blessing for me to be a priest. While it is true that a pastor shapes the life of a parish, I have found that the people I serve profoundly shape me, too. Ministry is an exchange of gifts – faith, hope, and love.”
