Has a traditional repertoire with some contemporary music. Sings for Midnight Mass on Christmas, Holy Thursday, Easter Vigil, and Sundays at 8:30am during Advent and Lent. Being able to read music is not a requirement, you only need to have a passion for singing and music. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30pm during the Advent and Lenten seasons.
This small group offers a more contemporary style of music mixed in with the traditional. Composed of advanced musicians who either know how to read music or learn very quickly. Some of the liturgies we will be singing for include, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve at the 4pm Mass, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Pentecost. This group typically will sing once or twice a month.
Holy Family School Children/Youth Choir
These choirs consist of 4th through 8th grade students of Holy Family School. Rehearsals are Wednesday from 3-4. These choirs sing at the Friday All School Masses during the week, as well as some Tuesday school Masses. Members of this choir are also welcomed to join the Church Youth Choir.
The resurrection choir leads the funeral congregation. We sing at most of the funerals here at Holy Family, and meet 20 minutes before each funeral to go over the music for that Mass. All are welcome to attend.
A cantor is a singer who leads the congregation in song. The cantor animates and encourages the sung worship of the assembly, and proclaims the Word of God, particularly as psalmist in the Liturgy of the Word
There are typically three cantor meetings throughout the year, in which we will go over new music, and any changes that may be happening. There is no age limit on being a cantor, however, some cantors and youth cantors may be paired with another cantor during their first year of being a cantor.
Instrumentalists are welcomed and highly encouraged to participate in the music ministry at Holy Family. An instrumentalist may be asked to perform with some of our choirs, and/or with an accompanist and cantor. All standard instruments (keyboard, guitar, bass, percussion/drums, woodwinds, strings, brass, etc.) are welcome.
